Matching View

The Matching View in Accurids provides (available only to users with ADMIN or CONTRIBUTOR roles) a comprehensive interface for identifying, reviewing, and consolidating equivalent or similar entities across datasets. It includes three dedicated modes: Match, Align, and Merge, each serving a specific purpose.

Match Mode

Match Mode is the starting point for evaluating potential matches. It allows users to inspect candidate matches that are suggested based on configurable matching rules.

Key Features

  • Proposal Rules UI: Users can define flexible rules to generate proposals, including:
    • Restricting by entity type
    • Choosing properties to compare
    • Matching logic such as "Value must be equal"
    • Including suggestions from Accurids AI
  • Filter Options: Users can filter proposed matches by source dataset and target dataset, selecting multiple options for each.
  • Manual Review: Users can evaluate each match pair individually and confirm or ignore them.
  • Automation Rules: Manual and automatic matches are differentiated by the presence of an (A) indicator. This indicator signifies that the entity pair was matched via an executed automation rule.
  • Filter by Matching Status: Users can see the percentage of matched vs. unmatched entities based on the current filters and filter by matching status.
    • Hovering over each section shows a tooltip explaining what the percentage means.
    • Clicking a section filters the table to show only matched, unmatched, or all entities.
    • The currently active filter is visually highlighted.

Tip: Confirmed matches can be further refined in Align Mode.

Align Mode

Align Mode supports detailed comparison between two matched entities, especially useful in regulated or high-accuracy domains.

Key Features

  • Overview Table: Users see a list of all confirmed matches with their alignment percentage.
  • Side-by-Side Comparison: For each match, users can open a detailed view displaying both entities in parallel.
  • Alignment Score: A percentage showing how well the values align based on defined comparison rules.
  • Comparison Scopes (optional): Users can apply a Comparison Scope to restrict the alignment calculation to specific object types and properties—ensuring the alignment score reflects only business-relevant data.

Properties outside the selected scope appear grayed out in the side-by-side view. See Comparison Scopes (User Guide) for details.

  • Value-Level Decisions: Users can manually align or unalign individual property values, including many-to-many mappings.
  • Progress Tracking: View the status of all alignments through the colored alignment percentages in the overview table: green indicates fully aligned, orange represents partially aligned, and red indicates not aligned.

Alignment is especially helpful when reconciling structured product information from various systems.

Merge Mode

Merge Mode is designed for consolidating entities that have been identified as potential duplicates.

Key Features

  • Configuration of Proposal Rules: Users can define flexible rules to generate proposals.
  • Merge Proposal Overview: Users see a list of entities suggested for merging based on configured proposal rules.
  • Unified Entity View: When a merge is accepted, merged entities are combined into a single global entity view, preserving all relevant properties. All properties are shown on the source side.
  • Unmerge Support: If needed, users can revert merges via the "Unmerge entity" option, restoring the original entities.

Merge mode is especially useful for data stewardship teams ensuring no duplication exists across large integrated datasets.

Accessing the Matching View

  1. Navigate to the Matching section via the sidebar.
  2. Select the mode: Match, Align, or Merge.
  3. Filter proposed matches by source dataset and target dataset, selecting multiple options for each.
  4. Use additional filters at the top to narrow results.
  5. In Align Mode, a table displays all matched entity pairs with their alignment percentages.
  6. Hover over a percentage value to access the Align entities icon and open the side-by-side view.
