Editing

Introduction

The Editing module in Accurids allows users to create and modify entities within datasets. This module is accessible to users with CONTRIBUTOR or ADMIN roles and must be included in the license.

Creating New Entities

Users can create new entities from both the Dataset Details page and the Datasets Overview page. To create a new entity, simply enter a URI. If the ID Management module is included in the license and assigned to a dataset (only Namespace dataset), the URI will be automatically generated by the PID Generator.

Editing in Global Entity View

In the Global Entity View, users can edit entities by clicking the edit icon located in the upper right corner. This will open the EDIT mode, where users can make various changes to the entity.

Available Actions in EDIT Mode

  • Add a New Property Group: Allows users to organize related properties under a single group. It’s helpful for keeping similar data together.
  • Delete an Existing Property Group: If a property group is no longer needed, users can delete it along with all its values.
  • Add a New Property to a Property Group: Users can add new data to an existing property group, enriching the entity's information.
  • Update an Existing Property in a Property Group: If there’s outdated or incorrect information, users can update it easily within the group.

Visual Indicators

In the Global Entity View, users will see blue icons next to properties that indicate the following actions:

  • Added: Displays properties that have been newly added.
  • Updated: Highlights properties that have been modified.
  • Deleted: Marks properties that have been removed.

These visual indicators help users easily track the changes made during the editing process.

Reviewing and Submitting Changes

Changes made by a user are initially saved as drafts. The drafts then follow a structured workflow, allowing for review, approval, and eventual release upon completion of all stages. For more details on the review and release process, please refer to the Pending Changes section.

Getting Started

To begin using the Editing module, ensure that you have the appropriate user role (CONTRIBUTOR or ADMIN) and that the module is included in the license. Once set up, you can start creating and modifying entities as needed.
